Last I knew,”said the American, “  the Scot was haggling /ˈhæɡglɪŋ/  price,and the Canadian was arguing /ˈɑ:(r)ɡjuɪŋ / that his government  /ˈɡʌvə(r)nmənt/ should pay.”
